7th Grade Homeroom - 6th, 7th & 8th Grade Math


Mrs. Mary Sorensen  is the math teacher for grades 6, 7, and 8, with her homeroom being grade 7. She oversees the middle school math program, and has added enrichment groups in Grades 7 and 8. She also has continued the Math Counts program  which meets weekly. In addition to teaching math, she also teaches Literature to Grade 6 and Religion to Grade 7.

Algebra - Grade 8

Areas covered range from arithmetic and geometric functions, including all types of multi-step equations to coordinate graphing, linear equations, polynomials, and radical & rational functions.

 

The TI83+ graphing calculator is used.

 

Pre-algebra Grade7


Areas covered range from arithmetic concepts, whole numbers, decimals, fractions, percent, and geometry to algebraic concepts including expressions, equations, and linear graphing.

 

The TI 34 calculator is used on occasion.


 
Math Grade 6


Areas covered range from arithmetic concepts, whole numbers, decimals, fractions, percent, and geometry to basic algebraic concepts, variables, expressions, & equations

Problem of the Week is disbursed every Monday; which concentrates on logic and reasoning skills
