From The Chair ...
Dear Mothers and Sons,
May 31st marks the end of May, a month traditionally devoted to Our Blessed Mother and coincidentally the date for the Mothers and Sons Breakfast at St. Johns. As chairperson for the event, I invite and encourage you to reflect on the significance of the real life relationship that existed two thousand years ago between Our Blessed Mother and her son, Jesus. Viewed from the perspective of reality one begins to realize the impact their relationship can have in our own lives. As role model, the love between them is a profound and wondrous gift.
I have kept respect for this foremost in my mind as I have coordinated the event, and in so doing will include Mass before the breakfast and Consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary. Then we celebrate! Good breakfast, great coffee, pancakes, toast, cereal, hot chocolate and superior company, you and your son!
As you navigate your plans for the end of May, please give special though to that morning, special thought to the unique relationship you share with your son, and honor it by giving to it the most precious give of all ... time.
If you do not have a son, please consider hosting (if you are a Dad) or hostessing (Mom with a daughter) in the cleanup and / setup or ribbon tieing of gifts and centerpieces. These times will be confirmed next week, and all help is greatly appreciated and hours go to your assessment.
The event has never been a fund raiser and monies collected go to the breakfast and gifts. The true gifts are those we share, and as a Little Prince said, "That which is essential is invisible to the eye."
God bless and I hope you can come!
The morning promises to be special!
